The ASCUD Bike Barn is proud to announce the roll out of our new Financial Assistance program in collaboration with the Aggie Compass Basic Needs Center. In an effort to assist all students, to have the best possible biking experience, aid will be distributed for bike repairs, new bikes, lights, and locks. This is a need-based program aimed at giving students efficient and reliable support.
To apply for financial support for a bike repair, you must come to the Bike Barn to get a quote for repairs. You will be given a quote for the repair and a pink flyer with a QR code. This code leads to a form on the Basic Needs Center website. The Basic Needs Center will respond to this form within 3 business days, letting you know if you qualify for assistance.
To apply for a new bike, lock, or light, take a picture of the price tag and upload it to the same form on the pink flyer. If you need any assistance our Bike Barn mechanics are happy to help.
Students are eligible for the program if:
- They have FAFSA on file and are eligible for a Pell Grant
- They have a CADAA on file and a Student Aid Index below $7395
- They are an international student
Aggie Compass can cover:
- Up to $400 to replace a stolen bike
- Up to $200 for a repair
- Up to $50 for a bike light
- Up to $50 for a bike lock
Since soft-launching this program in the Spring of 2025 the Bike Barn has been able to support students in getting hundreds of dollars worth of repairs. At the Bike Barn we know that bikes often need more than just one repair, so this program is not only for one time use. There is no limit on how many times a student can apply for assistance.
There are a lot of students who are eligible for this program so the Basic Needs Center encourages anyone to apply so that everyone can have equal access to quality transportation.
